ABOUT

The 2020 American Farrier’s Association (AFA) National Forging & Horseshoeing Competition will be held on Tuesday, March 10, 2020 through Thursday, March 12, 2020 at the Chattanooga Convention Center. A competitors’ meeting will be held on Monday, March 9, 2020 from 8 pm to 9 pm in the Marriott Hotel, Plaza A &B. Competition entry forms and fees, accompanied by the Convention registration form and payments, must be received in the AFA office before December 13, 2019. Entries will be accepted by fax, but will be invalid unless payment is also received. Any form or payment received after the above stated deadline will be put on a waiting list.

I understand that I will not be allowed to compete unless I am registered for the Convention. My submission of the entry form gives my consent to any audio/visual use the American Farrier’s Association (AFA) wishes to make of my participation in any competition, and also serves as a release from any liability of the AFA arising from any and all uses.

REGISTRATION DEADLINE

INTERMEDIATE Class - No Draft

Vern Hornquist Class (age 60+)

  • All registrants $0
    • Class includes propane and station

* If you sign up for only the Two-Person Draft Class, and then withdraw from the competition, you will be charged the regular registration rate.

RELEASE AND WAIVER OF CLAIMS

In consideration of allowing me to participate in the American Farrier’s Association (AFA) National Forging & Horseshoeing Competition on Tuesday, March 10, 2020 through Thursday, March 12, 2020 at the Chattanooga, TN Convention Center, I agree to the following, and I am doing so on my own accord. I give this acknowledgement freely and knowingly, and I represent and warrant that I am physically and mentally fit, and as a result, able to participate, and I hereby assume responsibility for my own well-being.

I am fully aware that this is a potentially HAZARDOUS ACTIVITY, and possible physical injury might occur to me as a result of my participation. I agree to assume the full risk, including risk that is not specifically foreseeable, of any injuries, including death, damage or loss, regardless of severity, which I may attain as a result of participating in any and all activities connected with or associated with the AFA National Forging & Horseshoeing Competition, which event shall include forging metals and shoeing live horses. Without limitation, this shall include acts or omissions and negligence, whether they be my own or those of anyone else.

I acknowledge that I have also read the competition rules and general information presented in the 2020 Competition Shoe List which is listed on the AFA website.

In consideration of the right to participate in the AFA National Forging & Horseshoeing Competition, I hereby waive any and all rights or claims I may have as a result of participation in the AFA National Forging & Horseshoeing Competition against the AFA, its directors, officers, employees, agents, members, Music City Farriers Association, Chattanooga Convention Center and all individuals assisting in instructing, participating, and conducting these activities, and I hereby fully release and discharge them from any and all claims resulting from injuries, including death, damage or loss, which may occur to me or my heirs arising out of or any way connected with my participation in the AFA National Forging & Horseshoeing Competition.

I agree to abide by all rules and regulations of the competition and sportsmanship according to the provisions of the AFA Policy Manual. I acknowledge and represent that I have read and fully understand this Release and Waiver of Claims, and that, if I had any questions or issues, I have asked those questions, and I have been provided with full and complete information which was fully responsive.

NOTE: You agree to all AFA policies, rules and regulations, terms and conditions by submitting your registration for this event.  A signature is required and will be obtained at the competitors meeting on Monday night, March 9, 2020.

REFUND POLICY

  • Within 4 weeks (by February 10): 100% refund less a $25 fee
  • Within 2 weeks (by February 24): 50% refund
  • Less than 2 weeks before the start of competition: No refund
  • except in case of injury, then money is applied to next year.

STATIONS AND PROPANE

  • Open and Intermediate Competitors pay $150 which includes propane for all registered classes, including the two-person draft, and includes the anvil, forge, vise and tray table

REQUIREMENTS

  • Contestants must also be registered for the Convention
  • Approved protective eye wear is required for safety and insurance reasons
